NYSCI is a nationally recognized science center that encourages the investigation of science through a free-choice learning environment. NYSCI is also committed to help bridge the gaps between informal science learning and science learning in the school environment, as part of its broader mission to improve teaching and learning of science for all.
NYSCI routinely receives federal funding from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health and others for research, program development, and to help further the goals of teaching challenging science topics to science center audiences. This support has most recently been used to develop a national model for conveying the molecular basis for health-related sciences and to contribute to the field of education research new information about how children learn about evolution.
