World’s First Global Science Museum TryScience Launches New Look, Engages Additional Audiences

Queens, N.Y. – The award-winning web site www.tryscience.org recently unveiled a new home page that improves the look and feel of the popular science and technology portal as well as easing navigation for users around the globe. TryScience is a collaboration of the New York Hall of Science, the Association of Science-Technology Centers and IBM Corporation. IBM also sponsors a TryScience kiosk donation program that includes over 150 kiosks in more than 30 countries around the world.

“Since our launch seven years ago, TryScience has helped over 3 million people explore the worlds of science, technology, and museums,” said Hall President and CEO Marilyn Hoyt. “With this update, TryScience is even easier to navigate, bringing science even closer to hand.”

New features include:

Powerful navigational tools that allow users to deeply explore into the site and its content without leaving the home page
Language translations that include German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, Arabic and Portuguese
Enhanced, more-accessible content for parents, teachers, and scientists and engineers
Space for special items of current interest such as live Web cams, educational outreach campaigns and research surveys

The TryScience web site is the first online, global science museum that offers instant access to information and interactive experiments from more than 600 of the world’s finest science and technology museums. Features include science experiments, virtual field trips to science centers throughout the world, real-time live Web cams, and a section for teachers with useful information on how TryScience can be used in the classroom.

TryScience.org has won numerous awards and recognition including being selected as one of Popular Science’s “Best 50 Sites on the Web” and has been recognized by the European School Net, a collaboration of 23 European Education Ministers, as the most utilized Web resource for science.
