Queens, N.Y. – Beaker bud vases, salt paintings, insect prints and retro clocks are some of the crafts visitors will begin to master during the New York Hall of Science’s new Science & Art Fridays.
Where else does science meet art than at the New York Hall of Science? Sculptures, photographs and murals have long been a part of the Hall’s permanent collections, but new Science & Art Fridays will allow visitors to explore where art meets science hands-on.
Science & Art Fridays September 15 – November 17, 2006 3:15 – 4:45 pm Create magnificent art and science related craft projects. $3 per participant
September 15, 2006 Retro Clocks Cut, color and create your way to a retro clock masterpiece.
September 22, 2006 Insect Print Making Combine classic print making techniques with some new materials to create insect art.
September 29, 2006 Quality Quilling Learn about the art of paper quilling and create a beautiful bouquet of paper flowers.
October 6, 2006 Flying Dragons Learn how to create a flying dragon made simply with paper, scissors and a bit of string.
October 13, 2006 Pop Up Page Create your own scene out of a medieval storybook, complete with a moving dragon.
October 20, 2006 Science Scents Create your own fragrance as we celebrate National Fragrance Week, and make a Hall of Science perfume.
October 27, 2006 Beaker Bud Vases Decorate your own vase made from a science lab essential.
November 3, 2006 Make Your Own Stamp Personalize your own stamp and leave your mark everywhere!
