Book Signing - Children’s Author David Ezra Stein Reads “Best Book of the Year” Leaves
11-14-07

Queens, N.Y. - Leaves tells the story of a young bear who has never seen leaves fall off a tree before. Should he try to put them back, or use them as bedding? Leaves are falling all over his island: what should he do? A whimsical story of seasonal changes will delight the very young. Leaves has been named a Best Book of the Year by Publishers Weekly, a Kirkus Best Book of 2007 and a New York Public Library Best Book of 2007.

David Stein will also be reading his other new book Monster Hug! Monster Hug! is about two rambunctious young monsters who make the world their playground. Playtime between such great friends is colossal fun, and sometimes earth shaking business.

Readings will take place at 11 am and 1 pm, November 23 - 25, in the Science & Technology Library. After the readings David will do a drawing demonstration of characters from his books. There will also be a free craft project after the story time, where visitors can make their own paper leaf crowns.

David Ezra Stein was born in Brooklyn, New York. He currently lives in Queens County, where he works as a set illustrator. On the side he is a daydreamer, a doodler, and a noodler in all kinds of media. His artwork has appeared in American Illustration, the New Yorker, and the New York Times.

For more information about the book-signing event, please contact Miriam Kessler at 718.699.0005 ext. 357.
