New York Hall of Science Provides New Home for Times Square Security Bollards, Opens Solar Walk Exhibition
7-24-07
Queens, N.Y. – Take a walk on the sunny side at the New York Hall of Science with a new permanent exhibition that artistically depicts the movement of the Sun. A series of globes, originally used as security bollards in Times Square, line the entrance drive to the Hall. The globes show how the Sun illuminates the Earth each hour over a two-day period, beginning on June 21, of every year.
Coupled with the Hall’s popular Sun Sculpture, a working sun sculpture that uses light and shadow to tell time, the Solar Walk is sure to brighten your day!
The Solar Walk is made possible by Boston Properties with generous support from Chris Fogarty AIA of Fogarty Finger Architects. Sun Sculpture (1999, Maty Grünberg) is the gift of Joan and Richard Scheuer.
