Video Contest Finalists Announced
Queens, N.Y. - In anticipation of the upcoming exhibition, Magic: the Science of Illusion, fans of the New York Hall of Science were invited to create a video of themselves performing their favorite magic trick to illustrate the connection between science and magic. With nearly 30 submissions received, the judges determined the top four (due to a tie) and have now posted them for you to view -- and vote on!
You can vote for your favorite "Master Magician" video through midnight on June 25, 2008. All finalists will receive New York Hall of Science shirts and be invited to attend the June 26 press preview of Magic: the Science of Illusion, where the winning video will be announced. The title “Master Magician of the New York Hall of Science,” along with a Magic Prize Package including a $50 gift certificate to the Hall's Science Shop, will be awarded to the producer of the top video.
Magic: The Science of Illusion explores science concepts used in a set of custom-made illusions and shows how these science concepts relate to our everyday lives. In the exhibition, visitors can learn how magicians use psychology, physics, math, engineering and the art of performance to create complex and visually stunning effects.
